Fire at Weddle Salvage

The Roanoke Fire-EMS Department responded to a commercial fire on September 8, 2005 at Weddle Salvage on 13th Street.
The call was received through the 9-1-1 Center at approximately 11:34 a.m. and was quickly under control. The response of two Engines, one Ladder truck, two Medic units & two Battalion Chiefs for a total of 13 personnel were involved in the fire. The fire was under control at approximately 11:50 a.m.
Upon arrival units saw heavy smoke coming from the salvage yard. After further investigation fire crews found a pile of scrap car parts on fire. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire. The fire was contained to the scrap car parts.
There were no injuries to Fire-EMS personnel or citizens.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are still being determined.
