Roanoke City Manager Darlene Burcham Set to Retire

Darlene Burcham will be retiring on March 1, 2010. She has been with the City since 1999. I cannot help but wonder if the recent article by “The Roanoker” Mag got the gears moving on the latest developments.

Check out the links below to read the news surrounding her departure.

I’ll be glad to see her go. She and her puppets have really hurt the Fire EMS Department. Grigsbo needs to go with her as well. They can’t leave soon enough.
    But it’s a hollow victory.
What about the employees that were run off, lost their jobs, were blackballed for promotion, had merit review raises blocked, were given punishment assignments for not cowering, were so-called random drug tested but tested clean, and were discriminated aganist with their bully tactics…
How about the loss of salary, shrinking benefits and hostile work environment, the constant retaliation…
The salary and benefits we lost will not be made up. The shoddy way we were treated left a sour taste.
Still, Council bowed to her and turned their backs on us. Even the newapaper was biased in her favor.
Now it seems council has had enough. (I hope they replace her with an employee friendly manager)

Yes, let her go, I wish it was today. But it won’t compensate for what we have lost.

From City workers to citizens she treated every body like garbage with a confrontational approach at every level……Good riddance to Queen Darlene!!
